my spider web

did you know that spiders use silk to make thier web and that there are different kinds of silk they use for different things sutch as fluffy silk for wrapping thier eggs or sticky silk for catching bugs and even strong silk to hold up the frame.

and also when a spider build a web it follows patterns!

my time at oruaiti

at all my years at this school I have noticed that I have come more resilient and confident while speaking to and in front of people,

I have also improved on my social skills like making new friends and explaining my ideas and taking risks.

I have become more responsible such as stepping up when I need to.

I have also learned to be caring and learn how to help people.

one last thing is how to show mana and be kind to people and show and express who I am.

athletics

last week was athletics I really enjoyed it. we had to do discus, shotput, sprints.high jump and long jump. the thing that I was best at was probably long jump of sprints and the thing that I enjoyed the most was definitely the long jump.

thank you letter

Dear Mark and Diane

I am writing to you today to thank you for allowing us to look at your amazing artwork and inspiring us and giving us an opportunity to use your materials and create some really cool art and buying us all ice creams from your pocket.

My favorite artworks are stripe the dog and the one with the mangonui fish shop with the sunset because they are very creative and very beautiful.

I think that it is really cool that you are giving us the opportunity to listen to you explain your artwork.

And once again thank you for letting us look at your amazing artwork.

Yours sincerely

Nicole

my haiku

this is the haiku that I chose for my manaiikalani cybersmart challenge this week.

I chose this haiku because it is very nice and I like to be nice to people and then people are nice to me.

ti rakau

in class we are learning about ti rakau. if you don’t know what ti rakau are they are stick you play games with. we are making and designing ti rakau for ped day this term. for my pattern I am going to use the kowhaiwhai pattern ngaru (witch you can search up if you don’t know what that loooks like) for half and the other half is going to be sting rays.

my colours are going to be blue green and purple and I think its going to look really cool. right now we have leanrned how to do one song and we can do it good. we are also learned how to do string games I can do a teacup, parachute and two diamonds easy.

my school holidays

in the school holidays it was very eventful first of all my friend Alexis came over she got to meet puss puss ,little poopster (a nickname for our dog mini) and frotti my frog. we went into kaitaia together and got Pringles ,the original flavour to be specific (obviously the best flavour). and we went back home. and we went for a walk down to the beach and collected so many twisty shells just to do nothing with them. and after all that fun the most devastating time came when we had to drop her off at her house.

The next thing we did in the school holidays was going to aukland. the one million hour drive down was agoniseing because stinky and bean got to sit in the middle and I had to sit in the back suppoted by a metal beam (basically) and sit on a draping piece of material. but finally we arrived at rainbows end! the most magical place on the planet. first of all we started of with the log flume and then we went to the gold mine and then the stratosphere. but then parker told me to go on the fear fall witch was eighteen stories tall. I told him he had to come on with me but he said no because he had to take care of little ti but he said he would take a video so then I instantly agreed because I wanted to have bragging rights and to be able to call everybody else a chicken. so I went as soon as I got on it I wanted to turn back but then I thought about those bragging rights and got on it. the first bit of it was super chill close to the ground, it feels like your going up for ages but finally I reached the top. it holds you there for what feels like ages and then I heard the clank but before I could react it dropped. it felt like my soul left my body and then it slowed down at the bottom. I was relieved but I also wanted to do it again but we had to go to the next ride. I think my second favorite ride after the fear fall is the rollercoaster because when you get to the the loop da loop it feels like your guts are coming out. after that it was finally time to leave to the motel.

the next day we went to motat which was this science and museum place I cant really tell witch one so I’m just going to say it was both. first thing we did there was going to look at the cars, we found this car you were allowed to sit in. little ti was in the front and stinky ,bean my mum, parker and I were in the back, we acted like little ti was about to crash the car and we were all acting like we were terrified.

next we went to this science area in motat it as awesome because it had this place where you could make rainbow shadows.

then we went on a tram to the second place of motat witch was my absolute favorite because it had planes but not just any planes, bomb planes, small planes and massive planes.

when we went back to the motel my sister was still upset that there was’nt any wifi so she could play grow a garden and then the next day we packed up and went home.

the end.

production day

Today is production its going to be really cool because we are going to have lights with our costumes and there’s gong to be a nighttime production too. I am really excited because we get to wear hats. here’s how we look…

we also get to wear face paint that is silver, blue, white and green.

I am also very nervous if I get the actions wrong and people stare at me. And my family is going to be watching too.The daytime production is for the grandparents and the nighttime production is for the parents. I think the nighttime one is going to be wayyy cooler than the daytime one because science we have lights they are going to glow in the dark.

We are doing glowworms because of a purakau about glowworms on the river banks and some pakeha putting a culvert in the river so you cant see the glowworms glow anymore. And there’s a maori legend that says that the parata tood on top of mt maungataniwha looked down and said lots of worms twinkling and glowing.

There are also other classes doing production performances too like kowai are doing tuna.

Rimu class is doing frogs.

Puriri class are doing mullet.

Totara class is doing stingrays.

Nikau is doing the history of mangonui and the shark.

Manuka is doing pig hunting.

Kauri class are doing the legend of kupe.

And our class is doing glowworms.

The production was really fun we danced in front of lots of grandparents and it wasn’t even scary it was actually really cool. At the start and the end of the production we sang a song as a whole school.  One of the songs we sang was he kakano. When we did our dance we had our lights flashing and glowing.

the end.

production purakau

this term we are doing production around purakau my class is doing a dance about glowworms.

the glowworms like to glow on the river banks but not in the water. male glow worms have wings.

glow worms are usually a teal of aqua colour.

I think we look really cool In our costumes and we get to wear hats and tutus.
